The family of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans has decided to open up the family archive and share with the millions of fans of their parents many of the very rare and personal films that were so important to the family over the years. This volume, The Television Collection, Pilots and Rarities, contains several shows that have never been seen publicly. Included is the unsold pilot to Dale Evans, Queen of the West, made in 1950 for Union Television Productions. Also offered for the first time is Roy Rogers, King of the Cowboys, a promotional film produced by Cate and McGlore, a publicity agency, in 1951 for Roy Rogers Enterprises. This is the film that was shown to potential sponsors for a Roy Rogers television show. The pilot to the Roy Rogers Show, “Innocent Pursuit” (retitled and broadcast as the second show in the series) as well as “Jailbreak,” the first show of the series, is included. “Jailbreak” is presented exactly as it was broadcast on December 30, 1951, on the NBC network, complete with all of the original commercials. This DVD special edition has the pilot to Roy’s unsold hunting series, Let’s Go Hunting. This episode, “Jaguar Jungle,” is of particular interest because it opens with footage of Roy driving his red XKE Jaguar at the Riverside Raceway. The final show on the DVD is the first Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show, the ABC variety hour, filmed at the Seattle World’s Fair, which aired September 29, 1962.
